How to dress an obi
Bunko-musubi
Bunko-musubi for Yukata is the basic technique of wearing a Hanhaba-obi. Let's start with Bunko-musubi.
Since you do not need other accessories for Bunko-musubi, you can tie an obi casually.
Bunko-musubi can be worn from children to adults at any age.
Also, you can use it on not only Yukata but other casual kimonos such as a wool kimono etc.
How to make Bunko-musubi
(Put sleeve on the arms so that it is easy to do the work)
1. Fold the 50cm length from the end of the Hanhaba-obi in half to make a Tesaki (Put a clothes-peg at the position of the 50cm, at the beginning). Put the Tesaki on the right shoulder Then it's opening should face toward you (Use a clothes-peg, if it is necessary, to hold the Tesaki on the collar).
2. Unfold the obi from the position of the clothes-peg, wrap it from the left to the back.
3. Bring the obi from the back to the right side, hold under the arm.
4. Wrap the obi one more time.
5. Bring the end of the obi in front, pull the upper obi to tighten holding the inside obi.
6. Fold the obi at an angle upwards.
